Renting a Winnebago View: Why You’ll Love the 24D and 24J
Winnebago View
The Winnebago View 24D and 24J models are popular Class C RVs rental due to their size and comfort: at 25' 6" long, they’re great for most national park travel, easy enough for first-time renters to drive, and have plenty of space to stretch out.
Both the 24D and 24J share the same chassis, kitchen, bathroom, slide-out, and over-cab bunk. The key difference between them is the bed sizes: the View 24J has a rear, full-sized bed and the View 24D has a queen-size Murphy bed in the main area.
While both RVs can technically sleep five, the 24D only has four seatbelts (so only four are allowed to rent), while the 24J has both seatbelts and sleeping options for five.
Here’s what makes it stand out against other Class C rentals.
Drives Like a Large SUV, Even for Beginners
The Mercedes Sprinter chassis is the View’s biggest advantage over comparably sized Class Cs. The diesel engine and low center of gravity make it handle more like a large SUV than a big motorhome, and the 25' 6" length keeps it easy to navigate on park roads and in campgrounds.
“We rented the winnebago View to do the mighty five [in Utah], it was the perfect size. Easy to drive easy to find parking. And we weren’t driving a mobile Billboard which was important to us.”

The Right Size for National Parks
Larger Class C RVs won’t fit in many national park campgrounds, but the View comes in just under the 26' limit.
A few of the campgrounds the View fits in:
Yellowstone: Madison, Canyon, Bridge Bay, Grant Village, Fishing Bridge, Norris, Indian Creek, Mammoth, and Tower Fall
Grand Teton: Colter Bay, Gros Ventre, Signal Mountain, and Headwaters at Flagg Ranch
Glacier: Apgar, Fish Creek, St. Mary, and Many Glacier
Grand Canyon: Mather, Desert View, and Trailer Village (South Rim), plus North Rim Campground
Zion: South Campground and Watchman Campground
Bryce Canyon: North Campground and Sunset Campground
Olympic: Kalaloch, Sol Duc, and Mora
Mount Rainier: Cougar Rock and Ohanapecosh
It also fits through the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel without an escort permit, which matters if you plan to visit Zion from Las Vegas or Phoenix.

Sleeping Space for Your Group
Both View models sleep up to five with the same over-cab bunk and convertible dinette. The difference is the rear of the coach.
The 24D is built around a queen Murphy bed and a daytime living area:
Queen Murphy bed (60" x 75") that folds down over a rear sofa
Over-cab bunk (49" x 75", roughly a full)
Convertible dinette (42" x 79", a twin XL when made up)
Four seatbelts — rentals capped at four passengers
The 24J is built around a permanently made-up rear bed:
Rear corner bed (50" x 79", a narrow full XL)
Over-cab bunk (49" x 75", roughly a full)
Convertible dinette (42" x 79", a twin XL when made up)
Five seatbelts — available to groups of five
Use Your Hookups or Go Off-Grid
The View has a 30-amp electrical system, dual solar panels, and an onboard generator with unlimited generator hours included on every Blacksford rental. That means you can stay at full-hookup campgrounds, dry camp in national park campgrounds, or boondock on public land without watching the clock.
“The [View] RV was very clean, easy to operate, & had the basic essentials for a three-night trip. We boondocked (no hookups) two nights in national forests, and one night in a KOA with full hookups. We made sure to utilize everything inside & outside and everything worked as it should. We had a great time & highly recommend renting an RV from them.”
Winnebago View kitchen: sink, counter, convection oven/microwave, stovetop, storage, and fridge
Kitchen and Bathroom Comforts
You can cook full meals in the View, instead of just heating up convenience food. The galley runs along the passenger’s side and includes plenty of storage for utensils, cookware, and dry goods.
The View’s kitchen features:
Induction and propane burners
Mid-size fridge with freezer
Microwave/convection oven
Full sink
Winnebago View bathroom: vanity, sink, toilet, and shower
The bathroom is a private enclosed room with a pocket door, so it stays separate from the rest of the living space whether you’re showering or just need a minute to yourself.
The View’s bathroom includes:
Full-sized shower with continuous hot water from the AquaGo water heater
Flush toilet
Sink and vanity
Need to rinse off after a trail or the beach? Use the outdoor shower at the rear of the coach.
Ample Storage for All Your gear
If you’ve ever worried about having enough space to store your gear, clothing, toiletries and food, you will love the View’s voluminous storage—inside and out.
The interior space has several drawers, a pantry, cupboards, a medicine cabinet and more. Under the dinette (and under the main bed in the 24J), you’ll find a large compartment for additional storage.
Outside, both Views have a series of exterior compartments for coolers, suitcases, camp chairs, hiking gear, and anything else that doesn’t need to be inside the RV. The rear gear garage is large enough for full-sized luggage or bulky outdoor equipment.
