Las Vegas has seven national parks within a few hours’ drive. Take the weekend to see one or two parks — or take a week to see several.

Zion National Park
About three hours from Las Vegas, Zion National Park is on many national park bucket lists with its red cliffs, narrow slot canyons, and cascading waterfalls.
Zion is great for hiking. Don’t miss Angels Landing (check for necessary permits), the Emerald Pools Trail, and The Narrows. You’ll witness the desert flora and fauna as it awakens from winter while avoiding the summer heat.
Expect high temperatures between 50–70 degrees (F) and lows near freezing.
Although it’s the desert, you might see spring rain and the occasional snow (which quickly melts away). The upside of spring storms is getting to witness stunning waterfalls that don’t flow later in the year.

Campsites in or near Zion National Park
Watchman Campground
Just a quarter-mile from the South Entrance, this National Park Service campground is nestled along the banks of the Virgin River.
Watchman Campground is close to a shuttle stop, allowing easy access to various parts of the park. Modern amenities include restrooms, a dump station, and cold drinking water.
Some sites even have riverfront views. Most of the 60 campsites offer electric hookups, a picnic table, and a fire ring. Reserve up to six months in advance.
Zion Canyon Campground and RV Resort
Located 1/2 mile from Zion’s South Entrance, this private campground offers full hookups, showers, laundry, and some riverfront sites. It also has an outdoor heated pool that open in March.
If weather permits, go swimming, fishing, or simply take in the beauty of the river. This great choice is also on the Springdale shuttle route to the park.
Zion River Resort RV Park & Campground
Nestled beneath towering trees, this top-notch campground in Virgin, Utah is a haven of tranquility, just a stone’s throw away from Zion.
Enjoy a pool, playground, camp store, and shuttle service. Great for families and those wanting the beauty of nature with modern conveniences.
Bryce Canyon National Park
About two hours east of Zion and four hours from Las Vegas is another top national park: Bryce Canyon. Enjoy dramatic hoodoos (tall rock spires), canyons, and stunning geologic formations—while hiking and taking photos. Don’t miss the views from famed Sunset Point at, of course, sunset!
Bryce Canyon’s wonderful Visitor Center has great exhibits to learn about the park’s unique geology and history.

North Campground
Located within Bryce Canyon National Park, the North Campground has a wooded setting. It offers easy access to the popular Rim Trail and Sunrise Point, providing stunning views of the hoodoos and is across from the Visitor Center.
Its 100 sites have no hookups, but there is a dump station and potable water available. Make reservations in advance, especially during the summer months due to high demand.
Sunset Campground
Another NPS campground inside the park, the Sunset Campground provides proximity to the popular Sunset Point area. It is a great spot for viewing the vibrant colors of the hoodoos at sunrise and sunset.
Its 50 RV sites have no hookups but do have potable water, fire grates, a dump station, and a camp store (seasonal). Reserve early.
Ruby’s Inn RV Park and Campground
Located just three miles outside the park in Bryce Canyon City, this full-service RV resort offers exceptional convenience and amenities. It’s an excellent alternative if the park campgrounds are full.
You’ll find a massive general store, gas station, restaurants, mountain bike rentals, and they’ll help you arrange activities. Its 250 full-service campsites have full hookups and shade.
The campground offers showers, laundry, a pool, and hot tub.

Joshua Tree National Park
About a three-hour drive from Las Vegas, just across the California border, is the rugged and dramatic Joshua Tree National Park with its famed trees straight out of a Dr. Suess book!
Joshua Tree National Park offers gorgeous and rugged scenery, plus hip camping spots and activities. Be sure to hike the iconic Hidden Valley Trail and enjoy fabulous dark skies for stargazing.

National Park Service Campgrounds
Popular campgrounds inside Joshua Tree—like Blackrock, Belle, Hidden Valley, Cottonwood, Indian Cove, White Tank, Jumbo Rocks, and Ryan Campgrounds—offer hundreds of campsites. There are no hookups but there are toilets, fire grates, picnic tables, and dump stations.
Some offer water, but be sure to check before you depart. Some require reservations while others are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Joshua Tree RV & Campground
Just outside the park in Joshua Tree, CA this private campground offers an oasis experience, allowing you to camp under the stars while enjoying the comforts of full and partial hookups, hot showers, campfires, and dining options, plus wifi and cell reception.
It has 75 full and partial hookup campsites. The campground is close to shopping, dining, and a community park. Reservations are highly recommended.
Joshua Tree Lake, RV & Campground
Offering stunning panoramic views of Joshua Tree National Park, this basic campground offers about 40 full and partial hookup sites.
Death Valley National Park
About two hours north of Las Vegas lies the massive and beautiful Death Valley National Park—brimming with life and activities, as well as wonderful in-park camping and amenities.
Experience the desert in spring, blooming with wildflowers and explore the otherworldly salt flats, sand dunes, and colorful canyons.
The heat in the summer can be extreme, but springtime temperatures are enjoyable with warm days and cool nights.
Don’t miss Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America, and marvel at the Artist’s Palette. Hiking, biking, stargazing, scenic drives, and even “sand surfing” are popular in Death Valley.
Given the sheer size of Death Valley National Park (3.4 million acres), staying inside the park is easiest although only Furnace Creek accepts reservations.

Furnace Creek Fiddler’ Campground
Offering a mix of full hookups and dry sites, this centrally-located RV campground is near the Furnace Creek Visitor Center and the Furnace Creek Oasis and Ranch (a full-service resort with swimming, playground, dining, high-end lodging, a golf course, etc). Reservations recommended.
Stovepipe Wells RV Park
This private campground near the General Store in Stovepipe offers 14 full hookup RV sites. Reservations recommended.
Panamint Springs Resort Campground
This small, rustic RV resort offers 32 RV campsites (6 full hookups and 26 dry sites). The resort offers lodging, RV services, a gas station, and a well-stocked general store.
Grand Canyon National Park
An iconic symbol of America’s natural beauty, the Grand Canyon can be reached in a few hours from Las Vegas. Springtime is wonderful because crowds are smaller and temperatures are cooler. Highs are typically in the 60s, and you may catch melting snow as you hike around the canyon.
Just under five hours from Vegas, the amenity-rich South Rim and its Grand Canyon Village offer some of the most dramatic views of the canyon, plus hiking, scenic drives, visitor centers, museums, ranger programs, lodging, dining, services, and campgrounds.
Most services at the South Rim are available year-round. Hike the South Rim Trail, Bright Angel Trail, and South Kaibab Trail.
Don’t leave without stopping to see the views at Mather Point, Yavapai Point, and Hopi Point.
Grand Canyon National Park CAMPING
Mather Campground
Located within Grand Canyon Village, the Mather Campground’s 327 campsites are nestled in a ponderosa forest, just 1/2 mile from the rim.
Sites have fire rings and picnic tables but no hookups. Toilets, a dump station, and drinking water are available. Reservations are strongly recommended at this popular and centrally located RV campground.
Trailer Village RV Park
This privately operated campground is the only in-park RV campground with full hookups and is very popular. The paved, pull-thru sites can accommodate vehicles up to 50 feet long.
Reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance and are strongly recommended for one of their 123 campsites.
Desert View Campground
Located 26 miles east of Grand Canyon Village along Desert View Drive, this NPS campground offers a rustic experience with stunning, peaceful views at the 49 no-hookup sites.
While there is a camp store, flush toilets, ice, and potable water available seasonally, there is no dump station. Reservations are required.
Grand Canyon Camper Village
Located 1.5 miles from the South Entrance in Tusayan, Arizona, these 220 campsites offer water and electricity but no sewer hookups. It offers showers, a camp store, wifi, laundry facilities, and some fire rings.
Walk to restaurants, shops, and an IMAX theater. The unpaved campsites are basic, but the walking distance to town services is nice and proximity to the park entrance is good.
