RV Camping at EDC Las Vegas

Renting an RV for the Electric Daisy Carnival keeps you comfortable and close to the fun.

Camping in an RV at the Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas means you have air conditioning, your own bathroom and kitchen, blackout shades for deep sleep during the day, and close proximity to festival grounds. It’s the most comfortable way to experience Camp EDC.

As one camper said, "Wouldn’t go to EDC without RV camping."

EDC typically runs for four days each May at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Camp EDC opens on a Thursday and closes the following Monday.

Read on for tips from our customers who attended EDC, plus advice from the r/CampEDC thread and repeat festival campers who love RV camping at EDC.

Why an RV Over a ShiftPod or Hotel

The three main accommodations for EDC are a hotel on the Strip with shuttles to the festival, a ShiftPod tent at Camp EDC, or an RV at Camp EDC.

Here are the benefits of RV camping:

AC You Can Count On

This is the number one reason repeat campers switch from tents to RVs. Mid-May Las Vegas regularly hits 100°F or higher. ShiftPod tents have AC units, but experienced campers on Reddit say that the camp power grid has struggled to keep tent AC running in typical Vegas heat.

One multi-year camper said that tent campers "got SUPER LUCKY this year with the clouds. You normally cook your ass off. The power grid has never been able to sustain the tent A/Cs in the normal Vegas weather."

Blackout Sleeping

The festival runs from roughly 7pm–5:30am. You’ll get back to your RV around 6am and need to sleep through the hottest, brightest part of the day. RV walls and window shades block out light and muffle sound in ways a tent can’t.

One camper described the difference: "Blackout shades — is it 1pm or 9pm? We were pretty close to the stage, and with hard walls plus a loud AC fan, you can’t hear anything. Closest you’ll get to disrupted sleep is from feeling the bass."

Cost Savings for Groups

One RV camping pass covers up to 8 people. ShiftPod passes are per-tent and sleep fewer, so if you split the RV rental and camping pass across 4–6 friends, the per-person cost often comes out lower.

No Shuttle = No Traffic

Camp EDC has a dedicated camper-only entrance to the festival. Past campers say they got in and out in about 15 minutes. Compare that to the 45 minutes to 3+ hours that hotel guests deal with round-trip using shuttles or rideshare.

More importantly, you can take breaks back at your RV to eat, nap for an hour, and return to the music without losing your whole night.

RV Requirements and Your Camp EDC Pass

The official Camp EDC Guidelines page has the complete set of rules. Here are the ones that trip people up:

  • Generator and AC. Your RV must have a built-in, non-engine-driven generator powering a working air conditioner. External and tow-behind generators are banned. This is the single biggest reason rental RVs get turned away at the gate — if the AC only runs while the engine is on, you won’t pass inspection. Confirm this with your rental company before you book.

  • The 75-foot power cable. If you purchase the power add-on, you need to bring your own 75-foot cable with the correct connector (TT-30P for 30-amp, 14-50P for 50-amp). They don’t sell or loan cables on-site. If you show up without one, you’ve paid for power you can’t use, and there’s no refund.

  • Water and waste aren’t included. Tank refills and pump-outs are available for purchase on-site (Thursday–Sunday, 8am–8pm, plus a Monday morning drive-through pump-out). Past campers say a group of three uses about 40 gallons of water over four days. If you’re camping with 6–8 people and everyone showers in the RV, your freshwater tank won’t make it without at least one refill.

  • Your RV doesn’t move until Monday. Once you’re parked, that’s it until 8am on Monday. Plan accordingly — anything you need from your vehicle over the weekend should be inside the RV before you park.

Renting an RV for EDC: Lessons from Campers Who’ve Done It

Camp EDC does not provide or rent RVs on-site — you need to bring one. For most people, that means renting, and this is where a lot of first-timers run into trouble.

Rent from an RV rental company, not a peer-to-peer marketplace

This comes up every year on Reddit’s CampEDC thread, and experienced campers are emphatic about it. Peer-to-peer platforms like Outdoorsy and RVShare connect you with individual owners, and owners frequently cancel last-minute when they realize their RV is headed to a festival.

One Redditor said, "Absolutely avoid Outdoorsy. Rented twice, upfront with why, and canceled twice." Another camper’s advice was blunt: "Rent from a RV rental company. Every year people [use peer-to-peer sites]. Every year they get cancelled on 2 days before camp."

Use a rental company that allows EDC bookings (like Blacksford Las Vegas).

“From pick up to drop off and everything in between, we cannot say enough about Blacksford RV! The employees were personable and kind and they were there to help us with anything we needed. AND we already booked our RV for next year’s EDC! :) Thank you!!”

Book Early, Like Really Early

RV rental inventory for Las Vegas’ EDC weekend gets picked over months in advance, and prices climb the longer you wait. If EDC is less than three months out, don’t wait another week.

Rent Locally in Las Vegas

Eliminate long drives, use less gas, and save on mileage fees with a local RV rental. You’ll be close to the rental company if you need help over the weekend.

Pro tip: Fill your gas tank in town before heading to the Speedway.

Campers have run out of gas while waiting in the check-in line. On-site fuel costs roughly double what you’d pay at a Vegas gas station.

“We rented an RV through Blacksford for EDC Las Vegas and we had a fantastic time! Cindee and her team were exceptionally helpful and made sure that we had a smooth experience. They sent us some tutorial videos beforehand so that we could reference them during our stay and they helped a lot! And whenever we had a question about the RV, they responded very quickly. 11/10 customer service. Anytime I need to rent an RV in the future, I’ll be going through Blacksford."

Confirm the Generator Setup

Ask the rental company directly: does this RV have a built-in generator that powers the air conditioning without the engine running? Get it in writing. If the answer is no or uncertain, move on.

Document the RV Before You Head Out

Record a full video walkthrough, inside and out. Open every cabinet, run the generator, test the AC, check the water pump. This protects you when you return the vehicle after four dusty days in the desert.

Blacksford RV rents directly out of Las Vegas, and its fleet includes several models with the onboard generators and AC systems that Camp EDC requires. They also have an in-person orientation before your trip and videos to reference, so you’re not figuring out RV systems for the first time at the Speedway.

Prepare for Lots of Dust

The Las Vegas Motor Speedway is dusty, and thousands of people walking Camp EDC makes it worse. Keep a mat outside your RV door, seal windows and vents when you’re away, and plan on sweeping the interior daily.

Bring a Lockbox For Your RV Key

If you’re in a group, everyone will be on different schedules at the festival. Instead of one person holding the key, a combination lockbox attached to the RV lets anyone get back in when they need to.

Arrive Thursday Morning

Avoid longer wait times and less desirable sites by arriving Thursday morning. If you want to camp next to friends, you must arrive and check in at the same time (no saving spots).

RVs with power hookups park in a different section than dry campers, so everyone in your group needs the same power option.

Pump Out on Monday Morning

On Monday morning, take advantage of the drive-through pump-out service before you hit the road or return your RV. It’s quick, convenient, and it saves you from hunting down a dump station elsewhere.

What RV Check-In Is Actually Like

The Camp EDC Entry page covers the hours and requirements. Here’s what the experience feels like on the ground.

RV check-in includes a security search, but it varies. Some campers mention a thorough inspection while others describe getting waved through after a quick look.

One 2025 camper said, “Our search was simple, only took like 3–5 mins.” Another arriving the same day described security opening all cabinets and outside compartments. It’s the luck of the draw, so be prepared for a thorough search even if your neighbor breezes through.

Items that security considers borderline like glass bottles or certain utensils may get held in a security trailer for you to pick up when you leave Monday. One camper said that security confiscated all their glass hot sauce bottles, but let them pour the contents into plastic containers. Anything outright prohibited is disposed of.

Pro tip from r/CampEDC: Offer the security team water or a Red Bull while they work. It goes a long way.

Pace Your Weekend

The biggest mistake first-time EDC campers make isn’t logistical — it’s trying to do everything. The festival runs three nights from dusk to dawn. Camp EDC adds daytime pool parties, after-parties, and activities at the Mesa. You physically cannot do all of it and still be standing by Sunday night.

Pick your priorities each day. Go in for a few hours, walk back to eat and rest, then return for the set you've been waiting for.

Download the Insomniac app before you arrive for set times, maps, and real-time schedule updates. Plan your must-sees, but leave room to wander.

Reserve Your RV Now

RV camping at EDC takes more planning than most people expect, but people who’ve done it tend to come back year after year. Book your rental months ahead, check the official Camp EDC site, and pack for the desert — not just the festival.
